DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES:

Parasitic problems continue to be a major source of concern in rodents. The problems are compounded by the fact that there are often no visible signs such as; lesions or scratching, therefore, making it difficult for pet owners to correctly diagnose the condition at an early stage.

The first signs of a prarasitic condition are often weightloss and/or a miserable looking pet, very often leading ultimately to death for "unknown" reasons.

Last year we sent out slides for members to place a hair sample on and return to the CCT for evaluation. From the samples sent to us, we found that many animals were contaminated with parasites despite not showing any signs of a parasitic condition. Those animals affected were able to receive treatment before any symptoms and related ill health developments occurred.

As a result, we are once again providing CCT MEMBERS with a similar opportunity to have your guinea pigs "screened", however, due to many of the slides arriving broken we suggest those wanting to participate follow the instructions below:
